First of all if you are paying for a product you expect it to last a long time and work accurately too, the manufacturers of this product stand behind the probe sensor so much that they offer a lifetime warranty for it.

Now of course you want something that is easy to read and easy to use, you don’t want to have to have a degree to set it up. You can use this digital thermometer when you’re cooking meat in your oven or on the bbq, it has a probe of 6.5 inches of food grade stainless steel, this is suitable for large joints of meats, to reach the parts that you need to for safe measurements.

It’s not enough to just be able to take a reading of a temperature, because if you don’t know what that temperature should be then it doesn’t help much. The Thermopro TP16 takes care of that for you, it is pre-set with standard temperatures to cook certain meats. You can set it for chicken, rare beef and fish, ham, medium beef, pork and well done beef.

Now that’s not to say that the meat will be cooked to your preference exactly as everyone likes things a little differently, but this little gadget allows you to adjust the pre-set levels so you can find the exact level for you.

If you’re liking what you are reading about this thermometer then let me tell you it has a dual function, it is also a timer. You can set it up to 23hours and 59 minutes, its easy to set it to a timer function by flicking the switch at the back of the base unit.

If you prefer to have your temperature in Fahrenheit or Celsius, the choice is yours with the ThermoPro TP16 , again you just have to flip the switch on the back of the base unit to change.

The meat probe is attached to the base unit by a stainless steel mesh cable which allows you to leave the probe in the meat or chicken while it is cooking and you can stand the base unit on top of the cooker or worktop beside it, you can also close the oven door easily without heat loss. Once your meat temperature reaches the level that you have selected it sounds an alarm so you know your food is ready.

The base unit has a flip out stand and it has a magnet in the back so you can display it in the best place for you, and with 40 inches of cable it should be easy to find somewhere suitable. It runs off a standard AAA battery.

Customer Opinion

Customers have found this to be a great thermometer for ease of use and especially the price. They use it in the oven, on the bbq and one customer uses it in the crockpot as well.

It’s cheap enough to buy as a gift so your friends and family don’t try to run off with yours.

The probe is angled which makes it very easy to stick into your meat and for it to stay there.

It’s also good for leaving inside a smoker to check on the temperature without having to open it to check it and many more happy reviewers.

The main complaints about this item is the fact that some customers have only used it a few times and it has then stopped working , or it is working but the temperature is incorrect causing them to overcook their food. Although to be fair to the manufacturer they have replaced some under warranty.

Verdict

The ThermoPro TP16 Large LCD Digital Cooking Kitchen Food Meat Thermometer gives you a cheap leave-in thermometer that has a leave-in probe rather than an instant read foldable probe thermometer, and you want one with decent customer reviews, then this is for you. It’s flexible in its use and can be used within different cooking environments.
