This Habor Digital Meat Thermometer is a digital probe type of thermometer which has a digital display on the end which is easy to read making it a useful piece of equipment for your kitchen. It is powered by a battery (LR44/AG13 button battery) which is included and comes with a plastic tube which you can store or carry it in without damage. The thermometer also comes with a hole in the end so that you can hang it from any kitchen hook.
This digital cooking thermometer has a 5.5″ stainless steel probe which is to a food grade standard to allow you to detect the core temp of meat or other foods. The probe has a step-down tip which is designed to give a more accurate reading more quickly, around 10 seconds giving you the added benefit of never overcooking your meat again.
This meat thermometer has a temperature range from -58℉ to 572℉(-50℃to 300℃) and has a temperature accuracy of +/-2F or 1C. If you want to check the accuracy of your thermometer then you just need some iced water and some boiling water. Place the thermometer probe into iced water which has been stirred, don’t let the probe touch the sides and it should read 32F(0C), the boiling water should read 212F(100C).
The Habor Digital Meat Thermometer has a large LCD display which is very easy to read and can be set to Fahrenheit or Celsius depending on your preference or if you have instructions which only give one temperature guideline. Simply press the on/off button and insert the probe into the meat or liquid and read the temperature.
Because the tip of the probe is so sensitive to temperature it can change as soon as you move it, so the thermometer has a HOLD button which helps you to keep the exact temperature showing on the display while you get a chance to read it properly. Don’t worry if you forget to turn it off after use because it has an automatic shut off if the readout stays on for 10 minutes, so that you’re battery will last longer.
Habor provide a 45-day money back & LIFETIME warranty which is great although if you buy from Amazon.com you will also get a 30 day return window if you have any issues.
This long probe food thermometer can be used in many situations. For most people it might be used for grilling on your gas barbecue when making steaks or in the kitchen when you have to cook meat such as a huge turkey, a roast leg of lamb, or a joint of beef. If you don’t know what temperature to aim for when doing meat then you need a meat temperature guide for a guideline so you always cook till the inner meat is at the minimum safe temperature or higher depending on your preferences. The probe length helps keep your hands far enough away from the hot meat to stop from burning them.
You’re not limited to meat temperatures though, you can use your instant-read thermometer for bread making, boiling water, hot milk, and even bath water. Anything that needs a temperature check can be monitored with this thermometer, just remember not to touch the sides of the container or bones in meat as that can give a false reading.
To clean your thermometer between uses you can use a damp cloth or an anti-bacterial wipe. Don’t try and wash it up or put it in the dishwasher as it’s not meant to be immersed in any water.
Many customers have found that it is not only cheap and quick to read but it is also accurate and has helped them to cook their meat safely. They like the fact that it is easy to clean and can hang safely on a hook in the kitchen.
The main issues found are that the thermometer stops working after a few uses or the thermometer won’t read a temperature at all. Other customers found the display too small and some found that it wouldn’t read accurately.
If you’re looking for a budget thermometer that is very easy to use, can read in Fahrenheit or Celsius, will switch itself off after use, can be used for various foods and liquids and is just one of the most useful tools you can have in the kitchen then consider buying the Habor Digital Meat Thermometer. It’s so cheap it’s a no brainer!
